NEW YORK, NY – The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), the City’s leading real estate trade association, in collaboration with the Coro New York Leadership Center, the City’s premier civic leadership training program, today announced the call for the next generation of real estate leaders for its REBNY Fellows Leadership Program. The first program of its kind for young real estate professionals of diverse backgrounds, applications are now open for admission to the professional development program’s third year.

The REBNY Fellows Program is a high-impact, six-month training program focused on helping a diverse range of young real estate professionals further develop the leadership skills needed to solve complex challenges, assess multiple perspectives and collaborate effectively. The program provides networking opportunities along with advocacy and civic leadership training. Participants walk away with additional knowledge and skills and a lifelong professional network that will provide a roadmap to continued success in the real estate industry.

Submissions for the next cohort of the REBNY Fellows Program close on November 14. Candidates can find more information on the application process here.

“REBNY is committed to cultivating a diverse workforce within our industry at every professional level from recent grads to the boardroom,” said REBNY Senior Vice President Yvonne Riley-Tepie. “The REBNY Fellows Leadership Program helps support the retention and advancement of talented individuals in our industry, while also hopefully adding a wider range of viewpoints and backgrounds to the group of decision-makers that will determine the future growth of our city.”

REBNY is committed to advancing efforts that help attract, retain and advance women, people of color and others from diverse backgrounds in the real estate industry. The REBNY Fellows program was conceived and launched in 2020 based on an overarching initiative led by REBNY’s Diversity Committee, which works to create professional opportunities and improve and promote the diversity of the trade association’s membership and the real estate industry at large. In over two years, 34 professionals have graduated the program. Many of the candidates from the prior cohorts have been promoted and continue to have an impact on the industry at large.

On the collegiate level, REBNY has collaborated with the City University of New York and Project Destined to create its Commercial Real Estate Internship Program focused on the pathways to careers in real estate for students of diverse backgrounds. The Project Destined and CUNY partnership has trained 150 students per year for the last 2 years. Additionally, REBNY partners with Building Skills NY to connect underemployed New Yorkers with jobs and training to create new career pathways into the construction industry. This partnership has resulted in placing more than 1,500 individuals from diverse backgrounds since 2016.
