We’re working to build a stronger and more equitable city for all.

When New York City succeeds, the City’s real estate industry succeeds – and vice versa. Our team of government affairs and policy experts works hard to advocate for sensible policies that strengthen communities across the five boroughs and make it easier for real estate professionals to do business. Since real estate market activity is the City’s most important economic engine, our efforts to support REBNY members also play an important role in helping to address many of the needs of everyday New Yorkers.

Addressing New York’s Housing Needs

Our city faces a housing supply crisis that impacts affordability for everyday New Yorkers. We support policies to produce more housing and affordable housing needed to address this crisis. We also work with diverse stakeholders to expand housing options for vulnerable New Yorkers by increasing access to housing vouchers.

Building a More Sustainable City

Combatting climate change means taking proactive steps to reduce building emissions and shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy. REBNY members are leaders on sustainable development and we promote policies that help the industry work with government and other stakeholders to achieve our shared climate goals.

Strengthening New York’s Economy

To ensure New York always remains the greatest city in the world, it’s important to ensure that its economy remains strong and vibrant. We promote sensible fiscal and economic policies that will help to maintain a healthy business environment, generate critical tax revenue and support equitable long-term growth.

Creating Good Jobs for New Yorkers

Whether we’re working with government, labor or the business community, we’re focused on advancing policies that create good, family-sustaining jobs and put more New Yorkers on the career track for success. That means saying yes to economic development and private investment to help strengthen communities.

Ensuring Public Safety & Quality of Life

All New Yorkers want to live and work in safe communities that provide the best possible quality of life. We promote policies that address these vital issues by prioritizing the needs and concerns of residents, workers and businesses throughout the city.

Protecting Agent Commissions

Hardworking real estate agents across the five boroughs play a critical role in connecting New Yorkers with the housing they need, and agents deserve to earn a livelihood that enables them to support themselves and their families. Time and again, we’ve stepped up to protect agent commissions – and we’ve delivered.
