Florida Broker Licensing Course

This course is for licensed real estate agents who would like to obtain a Florida real estate broker license.

To be licensed as a Florida broker, a licensed real estate agent must meet these requirements:

  • Complete the 72-Hour Florida Real Estate Licensing Course.
  • Hold an active sales associate license for at least 24 months during the preceding five years in Florida or any other state, territory or jurisdiction. Out-of-state individuals require a certification of license history from their home state showing initial license date, current status, disciplinary and length of active time. See Section 475.17(2) (b), F.S. for complete experience requirements.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Have a US social security number (contact the Social Security Administration to apply).
  • Complete the DBPR RE 2 application for broker license.
  •  Pay the broker license fee: $115 ($20 non-refundable application fee, $90 license fee and $5 unlicensed activity fee).

The Florida Real Estate Commission has approved the school, instructor, course content and teaching materials. The method of instruction includes lecture, discussion, practice tests, case studies and demonstration. The instructor will not read to the class members from a textbook.

 

Students earn 22.5 hours of NYS real estate broker/salesperson continuing education credit after completing the coursework:

  • 72 hours of lecture time—8:00 AM to 7:20 PM over six or seven days
  • A three-hour multiple choice exam with a passing grade of 70 or higher.

 

This course does not meet the required three hours of fair housing and discrimination instruction for NYS license renewal.
