Certified Negotiation Expert

CNE 1 - Core Concepts

This two-day course is for real estate professionals who wish to obtain CNE certification. These can be taken individually for 7.5 hour NYS continuing education credit, each day. After completing all 3 segments (CNE1, CNE2, and CNE3) the MCNE Designation is awarded. After completing any one segment (CNE1, CNE2, or CNE3) the CNE Designation is awarded

Please note that the Designation courses are not part of the $99/$190 deal. It was created by Tom Hayman, Harvard and Wharton trained, with 40 years’ experience as a professional negotiator. The certification course is taught by national educator, Marie Spodek, DREI who brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to agents in this exciting new negotiation and business-building course, especially residential brokers. The Certification is facilitated by REBNY but conferred by Real Estate Negotiation Institute.

Students learn how to apply the following skills to immediate real estate applications:

  • Getting the best outcome through competitive hard-bargaining and collaborative negotiating
  • Using proven ethical negotiation techniques to be a more effective negotiator
  • Understanding the methodology of buying to better assist buyers and sellers
  • Making a negotiation plan for success that gives your clients confidence in your ability

CNE2 – Buyer Suite

This two-day course is for real estate  professionals who wish to further improve their negotiation skills and results for clients.  Graduates of this class receive the Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation plus credit towards the Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE) designation. After completing all 3 segments (CNE1, CNE2, and CNE3) the MCNE Designation is awarded. After completing any one segment (CNE1, CNE2, or CNE3) the CNE Designation is awarded.

This certification course is taught by national educator/speaker and MCNE graduate Michael Walker who brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to agents in this exciting class that focuses on the Buyer’s side of the table and written (email) negotiations in real estate.  The Certification is facilitated by REBNY but conferred by Real Estate Negotiation Institute.

Students learn how to apply the following skills to immediate real estate applications:

  • A disciplined, structured approach to planning your real estate negotiations
  • Understanding the sources of and how to use power in negotiations
  • How to interview, present your value proposition, and set expectations with your buyers
  • How to be more persuasive and successful in your written negotiations

  • Understanding the Seller and how to position your value proposition
  • How to interview, set proper expectations, and establish a credible list price / terms

A cancellation must be received in writing at least five days before the start of the course. A $100 service fee will apply, and the cost of any distributed books will be deducted. NO REFUND will be given once the course starts, however a student may transfer to a subsequent semester within one year. REBNY reserves the right to cancel the course if a minimum enrollment of 10 is not met, in which case a full refund would be provided.
