RE: Case Number 10-T-0139
The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is the City’s leading real estate trade association representing commercial, residential, and institutional property owners, builders, managers, investors, brokers, salespeople, and other organizations and individuals active in New York City real estate. REBNY continues to support the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) and urges prompt approval of the project’s Environmental Management and Construction Plan (EM&CP) for installation work in the Hudson River.
For more than a decade, CHPE has worked with regulatory bodies and stakeholders throughout New York State to refine its construction plans. This work has included extensive coordination with communities along the entire project route and meeting with a wide range of local stakeholders. Through these efforts, CHPE has proven that this project can be safely installed.
CHPE is a critical project for New York’s ambitious clean energy goals and electric system reliability and its success is therefore important to New York City’s real estate industry. With the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) stating that a delay in the project’s completion would pose a major risk to the ability to meet peak demand starting in 2026 in New York City, REBNY encourages swift approval of the EM&CP.
Sincerely,
James Whelan
President
