As part of our ongoing commitment to aligning with industry best practices and fulfilling the requirements of the proposed NAR Settlement, REBNY will remove all compensation fields from the Residential Listing Service (RLS) effective August 1, 2025.

Since REBNY made compensation fields optional in August 2024, many firms have already taken steps to remove and/or stop sharing compensation information. This upcoming change will complete the practice updates required under our participation in the NAR Settlement, which REBNY anticipates finalizing at a later date.

As a reminder, the required practice changes include:

  • Written buyer broker representation agreements must be executed before any showing.

  • Clear and conspicuous disclosures that real estate commissions are not set by law, are fully negotiable, and that brokerage services cannot be marketed as “free” or “no cost” unless they truly are.

  • Removal of compensation fields from the RLS.

All of these practice changes have already been reflected in the 2025 Universal Co-Brokerage Agreement (UCBA).
