REBNY to hold comprehensive webinars and forums in April and continues to offer broad array of longstanding fair housing resources for members

NEW YORK, NY – The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), the City’s leading real estate trade association, today marked the beginning of National Fair Housing Month by announcing several new fair housing webinars, forums and other events for both REBNY members and non-members in addition to its broad array of existing resources related to fair housing.

National Fair Housing Month takes place annually throughout the month of April and commemorates the passage of the Fair Housing Act – the landmark federal law prohibiting discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of housing – in April 1968.

REBNY has consistently provided its members with training, support and educational resources to promote a strong understand of and compliance with all fair housing rules and regulations. REBNY’s additional educational offerings this April will include virtual events in partnership with New York City and New York State government agencies and other organizations.

“Supporting and promoting fair housing laws are key priorities for REBNY and we are proud to recognize National Fair Housing Month alongside our members and other real estate professionals across the country,” said REBNY President James Whelan. “REBNY continues to provide members with comprehensive educational resources regarding fair housing rules and regulations and we look forward to offering additional resources throughout the coming month and beyond.”

REBNY’s upcoming virtual fair housing offerings include:

  • April 7: “Preventing Source of Income Discrimination” webinar hosted in partnership with New York State (NYS) Department of State (DOS), NYS Division of Human Rights (DHR) and NYS Association of REALTORS (NYSAR)

  • April 20: “Rental Assistance Forum for Real Estate Professionals in New York City” hosted in partnership with the New York City (NYC) Commission on Human Rights (CHR), NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS), NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA), NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) and NYC Mayor's Public Engagement Unit (PEU)
