REBNY Statement on Federal Approval of LaGuardia AirTrain

Following Governor Cuomo’s announcement that the Federal Aviation Administration has approved New York State’s plan to build the LaGuardia AirTrain, which will provide a rail connection to LaGuardia Airport and include connections to the New York City subway and Long Island Rail Road, REBNY President James Whelan released the following statement:

“REBNY applauds Governor Cuomo for his leadership on advancing the LaGuardia AirTrain and thanks the Biden Administration for approving this plan and demonstrating its commitment to making infrastructure a national priority. As New York continues to forward on the path to recovery, ongoing investment in key infrastructure projects such as the LaGuardia AirTrain will play a critical role in creating good jobs for New Yorkers, expanding reliable and affordable mass transit options, and strengthening our local and regional economies. We are pleased to see the vision for the AirTrain become a reality and we look forward to continued partnership with the Cuomo Administration and the Biden Administration on large-scale infrastructure projects throughout New York over the months to come.”
