Spring 2001 Retail Report
May 18, 2001
Our Retail Report Task Force confirms the data that follows showing Manhattan store rents have generally held steady over the past six months of national economic volatility. This second REBNY Retail Report, a biannual survey of the retail market, found 1,850 establishments with an aggregate of more than 10 million square feet available as of March 31, an appreciable decline in available space since our inaugural report.
Since our last reconnaissance, another three brokerage firms have joined the ranks of participating companies, bringing the number of reporting companies up to 15. Their added coverage should enlarge these reports’ scope and enhance their accuracy. Having established a statistical baseline in the Retail Report’s debut edition, we look forward to increasingly informative accounts of this significant market.
