Coming Into Its Own: The Rejuvenated Brookfield Place
June 11, 2015
The World Financial Center always lived in the shadow of its more famous neighbor, the World Trade Center, until that tragic moment when suddenly it didn’t. Today, the World Financial Center is now called Brookfield Place and has recently undergone an elegant redesign of its mezzanine levels, a boon for its commercial tenants and for anyone else.
The revamp has substantially altered the retail arrangement and composition of the complex. Gone are anodyne food-court tenants; newly arrived are an Eataly-like French food market and restaurant, Le District, and luxury tenants such as Burberry, Gucci, Hermès and, shortly, the first downtown branch of Saks Fifth Avenue.
