Burt Resnick represents art and soul of industry
September 10, 2014
By Steven Spinola
At the 19th annual Real Estate Council Benefit on November 6, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will honor Burton P. Resnick, a founding member of the Met’s Real Estate Council.
This evening will celebrate his noteworthy accomplishments in the real estate community as well as his long-standing support of one of the great New York institutions.
This is a well-deserved honor for Burt Resnick, a past chair of REBNY, who has devoted himself to improving our industry and the city of New York as a whole.
There are not many real estate leaders who have worked as hard as Burt to maintain and enhance the qualities that make New York the capital of the world.
The son of Jack Resnick, founder of Jack Resnick & Sons, Inc., Burt has been an active player in the real estate scene and an active REBNY member for over 50 years, and has served on numerous boards and committees throughout his career.
Burt has continued the Resnick family tradition of excellence and has built thousands of residential units, and continues to manage a widespread collection of commercial buildings in New York City.
In addition to his service at Jack Resnick & Sons and REBNY, Burt is also a distinguished philanthropist.
He has served as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences, the Board of Directors of the Hebrew Home Riverdale, and many more.
He is also Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Overseers of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Campaign Chairman of the UJA – Federation, New York, a Co-Chairman Emeritus of the Real Estate Council of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Honorary Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, and far too many more to list here.
As President of REBNY since 1986, I have had the honor and privilege to work with many extraordinary industry leaders. No one has been more effective and committed to improving our City and representing the best interest of our Industry than Burt Resnick.
For six years Burt served as REBNY’s Chair. He did so during difficult times for Real Estate and New York. His strength and wisdom brought us together to fight numerous battles to protect and improve our City. Thanks to Burt’s leadership, we won many more of those battles than we lost.
I personally owe Burt Resnick much more than I could ever repay.
Burt has been there for my entire near 30 years as REBNY President to advise, support, teach and encourage. His judgment, political understanding and extraordinary depth of knowledge of everything real estate, from taxes to construction, residential to commercial, and the industry, government and politics that brings it all together has been an irreplaceable asset for me and REBNY.
On behalf of everyone at REBNY, I congratulate him on his upcoming honors at the Met’s 2014 Real Estate Council Benefit.
On behalf of myself, I offer an inadequate thank you for your friendship, trust and all that you have done.
