In 1989, Barbara Fox created Fox Residential Group as a boutique real estate firm specializing in the sale of Manhattan’s most upscale residential properties on the upper East and West Sides. Barbara had previously established herself as one of New York’s prominent real estate brokers and managers, having created a residential division of over 60 brokers for the large commercial firm of Cross & Brown Company.

Beginning with five brokers, Fox Residential Group currently has over 50 brokers, assisting buyers and sellers in all areas of Manhattan—uptown, downtown, East and West sides—in both sales and rentals. In October, 2004, Barbara joined forces with Reba Miller to form a special division to represent developers and sponsors of new residential projects. They represented the sale of upper Park Avenue’s first new development in over 30 years, 985 Park, between 83rd and 84th Streets.

In addition to her success in listing and selling properties and running her company, Barbara still finds time to be an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York, chairing and serving on numerous committees and spearheading many projects for the organization. Barbara has been on the Board of Governors, and has served on the Residential Board of Directors of this prestigious group since its beginning.  In 1997, Barbara was honored as the recipient of the Henry Forster Memorial Award for an outstanding record of achievement in residential real estate. In 2003, Barbara was named one of the top 20 residential brokers in Manhattan. She is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and Who’s Who Worldwide. Fox Residential Group is on the Millennium Issue list as one of America’s Elite 1000 businesses.

A native of North Carolina, Barbara resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with her husband, James Freund, a retired Skadden Arps senior partner, and a variety of dogs and cats. She is also the founder of a dog rescue organization in Manhattan named Woof Dog Rescue. In her spare time, she enjoys tennis, sculpting, jogging, and skiing.
