REBNY to honor Ed Piccinich, a leader by example
January 13, 2016
At REBNY’s 120th Banquet on January 21st, Edward V. Piccinich will be receiving The George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award, an award presented to individuals of superior accomplishment in property management based on civic achievement, outstanding professionalism, and contributions to the real estate industry. Piccinich is an Executive Vice President at SL Green Realty Corp., an S&P 500 company, fully integrated real estate investment trust, and New York City’s largest office landlord.
Piccinich joined SL Green in 2002 as Senior Vice President and Director of Property Management after serving as Vice President at JP Morgan. Prior to this, he held the position of General Manager of Operations of the World Trade Center for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he was awarded the Medal of Valor for his response efforts during the 1993 terrorist attack.
Today, Piccinich is an industry veteran who manages one of the largest commercial portfolios in New York City, and oversees construction, property management, underwriting, security and life safety, and information technology for the company’s 30.6 million square feet of ownership interest. In addition to this multi-dimensional portfolio, he also manages a team of professionals who share the same passion, and is known throughout the real estate industry for his intensity and precision.
Under Piccinich’s leadership, he and his team have been recognized throughout the industry, receiving such honors as The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award, the Conservancy’s highest honors for outstanding preservation. They have also been presented with the New York Construction Award for Industry Impact and numerous BOMA Pinnacle and TOBY Awards. Piccinich’s devotion to excellence has resulted in one of our city’s greatest and most respected management teams.
Additionally, Piccinich serves on REBNY’s Board of Directors, the New York Building Congress, Realty Advisory Board, Building Owners & Managers Association, Hackensack University Medical Center, Urban Green Council, and the Alliance for Downtown New York.
Currently, Piccinich is responsible for overseeing the One Vanderbilt Avenue project’s construction, a project which includes the construction of a new 1.7 million square foot tower overlooking Grand Central Terminal. Not only will this project address the needs of modern tenants and feature open and efficient floor plans, it will also be a class A, LEED-certified building. Once completed, One Vanderbilt will result in numerous public improvements, such as enhanced transit connectivity and new public spaces for an estimated $220 million. In the past, Piccinich has also managed other notable SL Green projects, including two ground-up developments for Pace University at 180 Broadway and 33 Beekman, as well as several retail developments in prime locations all throughout New York City.
I would like to congratulate Piccinich and his team on all of their achievements – and those to come – and look forward to formally honoring all of our industry’s top performers at REBNY’s upcoming Annual Banquet.
