Rohit Aggarwala, Director of the Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability, and Robert LiMandri, Commissioner of the Department of Buildings and their staffs They outlined the requirements of the new legislation and answered questions from members on enforcement and administration of the laws

The Residential Management Council held its 9th Annual Residential Management Leadership Breakfast on February 9th this year in the Grand Ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel. Honorees included Paul Gottsegen of Halstead Management as Management Executive of the Year and Bernard Warren of Webb & Brooker for the Community Service Award. Over 370 residential managers and their vendors attended, and Speaker Christine Quinn of the City Council spoke about pending legislations affecting property managers.

REBNY's November Retail Committee Luncheon featured noted retail consultant and TV commentator Howard Davidowitz who compared and contrasted the health of NYC's retail market to other US markets. Mr. Davidowitz expressed tremendous concern about the US dollar and the high US unemployment figures. He predicted close to 200,000 stores will close in the US in 2010. The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) presented its 2008 Retail Deal of
the Year Awards, which recognize the most creative and significant retail
deals, at the Retail Committee’s annual cocktail party at the 101 Club
Wednesday night.
Gene Spiegelman and James Downey of Cushman & Wakefield won the Most Creative
Retail Deal of the Year Award for the Lease of the Former Gucci Flagship at
685 Fifth Avenue. Harry F. Blair and Clifford F. Molloy of FirstService Williams
won the award for the retail deal that Most Significantly Benefits Manhattan
for leasing a premier retail corner at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue to Europe’s
preeminent retailer, Zara.

Leadership Breakfast at the Hilton. Mary Ann Tighe, CEO Northeast Tri-State
Region of CB Richard Ellis, spoke to the crowd about the New York City real
estate market. Matt Duthie, of Ruben Companies, took home the top award.
Other awardees included Pia Silvestri of Tishman Speyer for On-Site Manager
of the Year, Joseph Wick of Cushman and Wakefield for Portfolio Manager of
the Year, and Valerie Coleman of CB Richard Ellis, for the John M. Griffin

If it is a REBNY Seminar, the answer is "a lot of sound
advice". The seminar Legal Titans examined Boards Behaving
Badly, Rental Realities, Condo Conundrums and the good, the bad
