THE REAL ESTATE BOARD OF NEW YORK MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION


Membership in the Real Estate Board of New York is dependent on the prospective member's primary field of endeavor in the real estate profession. Please select one of the following categories of membership which best describes what you do in the industry:

Broker
  Holds New York State real estate broker's license –acts primarily as a real estate broker, mortgage loan broker, agent, or auctioneer

Principal, member of a partnership, or an officer of a brokerage firm whose main office is in Manhattan.

Same as Broker A where the firm has one or more Broker A members.

RLS Residential Applicants Discounted Rates

Same as a Broker A except office is located in a borough of New York City other than Manhattan.
Does not apply to members of the Residential Brokerage Division.

Same as Broker A except place of business is located outside New York City. A Non-Resident Broker is not eligible to join the RLS.
Salesperson

An individual who holds a NewYork State salesperson's license who is employed by a Broker A member.

Appraiser
An individual who's principal business is appraisal of real estate and is a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers or a similar nationally recognized organization.

Individuals directing the operation and maintenance of buildings in New York City.

Associations, organizations, individuals, co-partnerships, and corporations not qualifying for membership in categories noted above.
Associate (depends on the # of Partners in law firm.) Attorneys, as individual practitioners, members of a partnership or professional corporation.
Corporate Executive

Any individual employed solely by a corporation in an executive capacity charged with the handling for that corporation of its real estate without additional compensation or fee for such activities other than his regular compensation, provided the corporation is not primarily engaged for itself or others in owning, managing, buying, selling or appraising real estate and provided (a) such corporation does not have a license as a real estate broker and (b) is not restricted to membership in any of the following classes of membership, may be elected through the usual process as a Corporate Executive Member.



In addition to dues, an initiation fee of $150 is payable for Broker A, Appraiser A, and Management A categories. A $25 initiation fee is applicable to Borough and Non-Resident Brokers.
