EXTRACTS FROM THE CONSTITUTION OF THE REAL ESTATE BOARD OF NEW
YORK, INC
Section 2: Brokerage Division: Membership in the Brokerage Division
shall be divided into classes as follows:
(i) Appraiser A. Any person whose principal business is appraisal
of real estate, either in their own name or as a member of a partnership
or an officer of a corporation; and who shall be a member of the
American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, or has been admitted
into similar nationally recognized organization of appraisers with
equivalent qualifications; and whose main office is in the Borough
of Manhattan, City of New York, shall be eligible for Appraiser
A Membership.
It shall be the duty of every Appraiser A Member to impose as
a condition of employment of any appraiser employed by an Appraiser
A Member, a partnership or corporation in the main office or any
branch office located in Manhattan, that such appraiser shall apply
for admission as a Appraiser C Member or Candidate Appraiser Member
of the Board, and that if admitted, the Appraiser A Member shall
be responsible for payment of the dues required for the Appraiser
C and Candidate Appraiser memberships.
(j) Appraiser C. A Real Estate Appraiser affiliated with an Appraiser
A Member but not classified as such Appraiser A Member or as a
member of a partnership or an officer of a corporation shall be
eligible for Appraiser C membership.
(k) Non-Resident Appraiser. Any individual, partnership or corporation
who otherwise qualifies for membership in the Appraiser A class,
primarily engaged in the performance of real estate appraisals
outside the Borough of Manhattan.
A Non-Resident Appraiser Member may voluntarily cause his candidates
to apply for Candidate Appraiser Membership, provided such employer
and such applicants for Candidate Appraiser Membership shall comply
with provisions of the Constitution with respect to Candidate Appraiser
Members.
(I) Candidate Appraiser. Every candidate appraiser in good standing,
employed in the Office of an Appraiser A Member engaged specifically
for appraisal work, and whose application is endorsed by his employer,
shall apply for election as a Candidate Appraiser. Every candidate
appraiser in good standing, employed in the Office of a Non-Resident
Appraiser Member engaged specifically for appraisal work, may apply
for election as a Candidate Appraiser provided his application
is endorsed by his employer. If elected, the employer shall be
responsible for the payment of dues of such Candidate Appraiser.
If, during the course of the year for which said dues have been
paid, the employment shall end, such employing firm, subject to
the provisions here of shall be entitled to have a new Candidate
Appraiser elected to membership without payment of additional dues
for the balance of such year.
Upon cessation of employment, the employing firm shall forthwith
notify the Secretary of the Board, whereupon the membership of
the Candidate Appraiser shall terminate, but may be renewed with
the written consent of the former employer or by the direction
of the Board of Governors upon the Candidate Appraiser's employment
by another Appraiser A or Non-Resident Appraiser Member of the
Board.
The Board of Governors or the Executive Committee may, from time
to time, established such other rules with respect to Candidate
Appraiser member not inconsistent with foregoing provisions, as
they may deem to be in the best interests of the Board, and such
rules may be incorporated in the application blank signed by the
applicant for membership in this class.
ARTICLE IV FEES AND DUES
Section 1 (a). The initiation fee for members of the
Brokerage Division shall be as follows:
Broker A Member $150
Borough Broker Member 25
Non-Resident Broker 25
Appraiser A Member $150
Non-Resident Appraiser 25
There shall be no initiation fee for other classes of membership
in the Brokerage Division.
ANNUAL DUES
Brokerage Division
The Annual Dues for members of the Brokerage Division shall be
as follows:
Appraiser A Member $900
Appraiser C Member $455
Non-Resident Appraiser $335
Candidate Appraiser $330
New applicants will receive provisional membership pending action
by the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee must review
a new member's application no later than 60 days from receipt
of the application. In the event that the Admissions Committee
does not reject the applicant, then the provisional membership
shall become full memebrship. A provisional member shall have
the full rights and obligations, during the 60-day period, of
full membership.
